Please find two categories of Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho:
MEXT) Scholarship for 2007. One is for RESEARCH STUDENTS AT THE
GRADUATE LEVEL. The other is forJAPANESE STUDIES STUDENTS.
If you think your exchange student satisfies the scholarship qualification, please nominate a candidate and submit all the necessary documents to the Center for International Education, Waseda University by no later than March 15, 2007. Please note that student(s) cannot apply to both MEXT and JASSO scholarship at the same time.
SPECIAL REMARKS:
1. The Monbukagakusho: MEXT or the Japanese Ministry of Education,
Culture, Sports, Science and Technology offers scholarships to incoming exchange students based on the student exchange agreement with Japanese universities, who are serious and eager to study inJapan. Based onJapan's national policy,WasedaUniversityoffers this scholarship application opportunity to incoming exchange students coming from partner universities in all countries in which the Japanese government has official diplomatic relations as ofApril 1st, 2007.
2. This is a scholarship for exchange students. So please nominate ONE
scholarship candidate from among the student(s) that your university has selected as exchange candidate(s) forWasedaUniversityand are going to send from fall 2007 under the student exchange agreement.WasedaUniversitydoes not accept faculty members or teaching staff that have no student enrollment status at your university.
3. This scholarship application opportunity does not mean that we are
going to accept any extra students exceeding the limited number of exchange student(s) we can accept from your university per one academic year under the agreement. So, for example, if your university can send one exchange student to Waseda, please assess the student's eligibility for this scholarship.
4. Please be aware that this Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT)
Scholarship is very prestigious and should be reserved for highly qualified exchange students who have achieved excellent academic performance, and are strongly motivated for study inJapan. We are asking you to keep this in mind and decide whether your exchange student is worth receiving this full-support government scholarship.>
5. Since the number of places for this scholarship is decreasing year
by year,WasedaUniversitymay place priority on PhD level students to pursue research atWasedaUniversityunder the student exchange program.
6. Graduate students in our Graduate Studies Program can apply for the
Graduate Level Research Students Scholarship, while undergraduate student who chose our Intensive Japanese Language Program can apply for the Japanese Studies Students Scholarship.
7. One-Year Study Abroad Program at the SILS applicants and
Undergraduate Studies Program applicants are NOT eligible for this scholarship.
